So this is the second book by Naomi Novak ,and the second in the Temraire series. A book about dragons in Napoleanic war time is fantastic. These arent your typical dragons...they are more human than ever before. I love this book! if you like fantasy stories this is one for you. The first book in the series is called "His Majesties Dragon"
Also the first three books have been opted for film by (believe it or not) famed LOTR director Peter Jackson!! Huzzah!!

Nautically its very accurate and interesting. The history aspect of the books takes a backseat to the action and integration of the dragons. The historical settings, customs, and talk are very interesting and well done. You really feel as if you are, with the exception of new advancements. Advancements such as metal work ahead of its time, some social advancements and some technology is better. I will say this is one of the best books i've read as far as utilizing dragons as characters.
My favorite aspect are the breeds of dragons. All the breeds are unique and have aspect that are based on the country where they are bred. The Celestial dragons come from the Chinese which is very fitting consider the steep history of dragons in that culture.
It's a good book, i think you might like it Darkart.

I just finished "Throne of Jade" and i must say the last 60 -80 pages were great...it seems really real and reads at a steady pace.
I just started the thrid book in the Temeraire series called "Black Powder War" and this Sept 25th she is releasing the fourth book. Ill keep you up dated about this new book. I highly recomend this series, jump on it early before it becomes a fad, and recomend to someone before its recomended to you.

I just finished the third book "Black Powder War"
You know, i actually think that this third book in the Temeraire series is the best. Having most of the characters established the story unfolds at a fantastci pace and throws some great suprises at you. I have already ordered the fourth book "Empire of Ivory" and cant wait to read that one. I really hope these movies are made by Peter Jackson..when i read them i see them as a movie, they are very discriptive and visually oriented. I love this series.

The book was fantastic! She just keeps making them better and better. She is also very good at plot twist that are unespected but dont seem weird or out of place. Unfortunantly a new release has not been slated for her next book but i am assuming it will be sometime early 2008.
